Category 1

Events

Expected behaviour:

  1. Bring all the books needed for the class.
  2. Remain silent in the classroom and no booing, name-calling, hissing, mocking and whistling at any time.
  3. Should not curse each other or discuss inappropriate topics.
  4. Should not draw graffiti on the benches or books.

 

Violations and consequences

  1. For the first 3 violations, the student is explained nicely, the logbook is updated and the respective teacher documents it.
  2. It is parents’ duty to check the logbook daily and acknowledge any communication from the teacher.
  3. A call is made to the parents for 4th, 5th, & 6th events
  4. If the student continues to violate the aforementioned rules, for the 7th & 8th violation, a meeting with the respective parent will be held.
  5. For the 9th & 10th violations the student is suspended for a day.
  6. For the 11th & 12th events student will be suspended for 3 days
  7. The 13th violation will result in a week long suspension.
  8. Subsequently if the student does not refrain from his/her actions and still violates the mentioned rules, management holds the right to expel the student.

Category 2

Events

Punctuality:

  1. Must come to the school on time.
  2. Be in the class as soon as the recess/ short break is over.

Disrespect to Teachers:

  1. Should not Interrupt the teacher by being silly or rude.
  2. Should not talk during the class unless permitted.
  3. Should not disturb the class in any manner.
  4. Should follow all the instructions in a timely fashion.

Toilet Use:

  1. Students should use water to clean themselves.
  2. No loitering misuse of paper towels, tissues, etc.
  3. Please review the attached documents with detailed rules of using the washrooms and toilets.

 

Violations and consequences

  1. For the first 3 violations, the student is explained nicely, the logbook is updated and the respective teacher documents it.
  2. It is parents’ duty to check the logbook daily and acknowledge any communication from the teacher.
  3. A call is made to the parents after the 4th event if their ward does not fix his/her behavior.
  4. After the 5th violation, a meeting with the parents is called.
  5. After the 6th, 7th and 8th violations the student is suspended for a day, 3 days, and a week respectively.
  6. Subsequently, if the student does not refrain from his/her actions and still violates the mentioned rules, management holds the right to expel the student.

Category 3

Events

Cell Phone/ Electronic:

  1. Electronic devices (phones/ipads/tabs/gaming consoles/music player) are strictly prohibited in the school.
  2. If mistakenly brought, the student should immediately hand it over to any staff member in the office.

 

Violations and consequences

If the student is found to have any electronic devices on his person or in his possession (bag, locker, etc) the device will be confiscated and the subsequent procedures will be followed.

  1. First violation, parents are counseled and device returned to the parent.
  2. Second violation, $100 fine, the student is suspended for a day and device returned a week after paying the fine.
  3. Third violation, $200, the student is suspended for 3 days and device returned a month after paying the fine.
  4. Fourth violation, student will be expelled from the school.

Category 4

Events

Hair/ Clothes:

  1. Hair should be kept clean and tidy at all times.
  2. Hair should not be too long and should be off the face at all times.
  3. The styles of the hair not allowed are (including but not limited to ) fades, high fades, mohawks, partial head shaved style and patterns, hair tied up and braided (for boys ).
  4. Girls may not wear any makeup including but not limited to lipstick, nail polish, fake nails, highlights, high heels, jewelry including bracelets, anklets, lockets, eye shades, fake lashes, etc.
  5. The full school uniform must be worn at all times.
  6. Please see detailed dress code for boys and girls in registration packet. (In exceptional circumstances parents should talk with the administration)

 

Violations and consequences

If the student does not maintain tidiness (Unacceptable hairstyle/clothes/dress).

  1. The first violation is documented , a week’s time is given for fixing the violation
  2. It is parents’ duty to check the logbook daily and acknowledge any communication from the teacher.
  3. Second violation, parents are counseled and given one more week.
  4. Third violation will lead to a $50 fine along with suspension for a day and one last week given to resolve the issues(s).
  5. Fourth violation, the student is not allowed in the school until the issues are resolved.

Category 5

Events

The loss to school Property:

  1. Students will be held liable for any damage including but not limited to
  2. Anything in the game room, any game boards or tables.
  3. Any car in the parking lot/ any other property.
  4. Any personal use items belonging to other students (Pen, bottles, etc).
  5. Windows (Pulled off curtain, ruined it, etc).
  6. Walls/ furniture (writing, scratching, drawing graffiti, gluing stickers and splashing Ink, etc).

 

Violations and consequences

If the student damages the school property .

  1. First & second violations, student has to pay the repair/ replacement cost along with $50 fine.
  2. It is parents’ duty to check the logbook daily and acknowledge any communication from the teacher.
  3. Third violation, repay and replacement cost plus $50 fine with a day suspension.
  4. Repeated violations without replacement and fines will lead to expulsion of the students.

Category 6

Events

Getting physical:

  1. Students must not touch each other at any time and maintain a safe distance and give others their personal space.
  2. It is strictly prohibited to touch anyone even in play including tapping, play fight, etc.

 

Violations and consequences

If the student invades the personal space of any other student or touches anyone deliberately .

  1. First violation, parents will be called  and counseled and event documented
  2. It is parents’ duty to check the logbook daily and acknowledge any communication from the teacher.
  3. Second violation Parents called for a meeting. (If parents do not come for the meeting, the third violation will be documented).
  4. Third violation, student is requested to submit an apology letter after a day of suspension.
  5. Fourth violation, Student is suspended for 3 days.
  6. Fifth violation, management holds the right to expel the student.

Category 7 (ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY)

Events

Sexual touching:

  1. If the allegation of sexual touching regarding a student is proven to be true and legitimate then the student will be expelled from the school on the first proven allegation.

Category 8

Events

  1. Any student coming to school late than 8 15 am will be documented to be tardy for that school day
  2. 3 tardies will be counted as one absent
  3. There will be a fine of $50 for 5 tardies in a month

Category 9

Events

  1. If the parents or the students make an allegation regarding a teacher or the school which is found to be untrue or false, strict disciplinary action will be taken against the student including the possibility of expulsion.
  2. It will be considered as intervention in School Operations for any group of parents to meet offline and force in ideas for School Management to Implement. If any parents are found to be involved in such activities, Strict Disciplinary Action will be taken against the family including the possibility of Expulsion.
  3. Being a privately funded school, Darul Arqam has the right to decline admissions or expel students that are deem to cause trouble to the School’s Operations and Management.
